A central Exeter nursing option
The Dales is on Howell Road, close to Exeter city centre. For families already based around Exeter, that can support frequent contact and make it easier to include relatives in reviews, celebrations and ordinary visits.
Nursing support and changing needs
The home provides nursing care for older people and also offers respite and palliative/end-of-life care. Tell the team about current diagnoses, mobility, medication, eating and drinking, cognition and any professionals already involved so that suitability can be assessed properly.
A long-established team matters
Manager Marie Brown joined The Dales as Matron in 2003 and has a nursing background. During a visit, ask how leadership translates into continuity on the floor: staff handovers, escalation, family communication and review of care when needs change.
Use location as one factor, not the whole decision
Being central can be convenient, but care quality, environment and individual fit should lead. CQC, NHS guidance and an in-person visit together provide a much fuller picture than distance or a single rating alone.
Independent help while you compare
